| 1. DREN Gala - Durham Region Employment Network EmployAbility Awards |
| 2. Women's Conference: The First Step is to Start - The 2009-2010 partnership will focus on an all-day forum for women who have an employment goal but who are not in the labour force. |
| 3. Universal Action Centre for Displaced Workers - Conduct a feasibility study and based on results write a funding proposal to create a Universal Action Centre, supported by a peer helper network,available to all displaced workers regardless of their union affiliation or employment sector. |
| 4. 7th Annual Farm Tour - City of Pickering - Farm tour for elected representatives and administrators, provincial and federal government members, advisory committee members, educators, agricultural leaders and media, to inform about issues facing agriculture, new technologies, impact of legislation, and rural economic development. |
| 5. Transition of Displaced Workers - Continue to work with the education sector, MTCU, service providers, labour and business-industry to identify appropriate retraining options for displaced workers to accelerate successful transition and return to the labour force. |
| 6. Local Diversity and Immigration Partnership Council - DRLTB has representation on the newly-formed council and will lead outreach to the business community. The council will create inclusivity action strategies, including support to initiatives that will improve employment outcomes for newcomers and immigrants. |
| 7. Construction Sector Conference - Exhibit at “Future Building”, a construction career exposition taking place in Bowmanville April 7-9, 2009. It has been organized to present a realistic view of apprenticeship opportunities and other careers in Ontario’s construction industry. |
8. Nursing Careers Event - Host a career information session where secondary school students and teachers can meet with faculty and healthcare professionals to learn about the diversity of opportunity for nurses in acute/specialty care, mental health, community care and gerontology/long term care.

| 9. Industry Tours for Educators - Co-host a pilot tour of local industries for educators. Provide the opportunity for teachers to learn about current business challenges and practices, career opportunities for youth, skill requirements, impact of technologies, research and industry developments from business directly. |
| 10. Business Retention and Expansion in Brock Township - In consultation with industry, municipal government, service providers and the economic development committee, identify labour force challenges including youth out-migration and skilled labour shortages that were reported in the 2008 Brock Township BR+E (Business Retention and Expansion) Study. Co-facilitate the development of a 1-2 year comprehensive action plan to address these challenges and communication strategy. |

| 2. New Futures Transition of Displaced Auto Workers - An exchange of ideas and development of strategies to facilitate a return to the labour force of displaced auto sector workers. |
| 3. Welcome Centre Durham - a proposal to fund an information centre for immigrants and newcomers in Durham Region based on a model where settlement, language, credential assessment and employment services are available from a single location. |
| 4. Pursuing Hopes and Dreams - An open discussion between stakeholders and potential funders to understand issues and barriers faced by employable or potentially employable disabled persons and agencies providing employment supports to this group. |
| 5. Independent Women of the Future - a conference for women with employment goals who are not in the labour force. |
| 6. Deep Roots - 6th annual farm tour in the City of Oshawa. |

| 1. Youth Employment Directory - a unique resource booklet (Finished High School? What's next for you?)written for youth transitioning from secondary school to work. |
| 2. Training and Employment Needs Survey of Durham's Agricultural Sector - a comprehensive survey reflecting input from farmers and commodity groups throughout the region. |
| 3. Careers in Health Care - initiatives to expose qualified secondary school students and teachers to career opportunities and occupations, such as nursing, that are in current demand. |
| 4. 5th Annual Farm Tour Brock Township "The Agricultural Heartland" - challenges and innovation on the farm revealed to a record number of attendees. |
