A HUMAN RESOURCE STUDY OF THE HEALTH CARE SECTOR IN DURHAM REGION
In April 2001, a study of Durham Region's vital health care sector, with particular emphasis on labour force demographics, recruitment and retention issues, and training needs, was launched.
Study partners included the Local Training Board, the Durham Haliburton Kawartha and Pine Ridge District Health Council, and Durham College. The Durham Region Health Care Group (DRHCG) sponsored the study, and Human Resources Canada (HRDC) funded the project.
In June 2002, the key findings of the study, "A Call To Action", including strategies to address local needs that were developed in discussions with representatives from various health care sectors, were presented to DRHCG. The report that follows highlights the results of this major and important undertaking, the first of its scale in Durham.
If you have any questions about the study, or if you wish further information, please contact Rick Lea, Executive Director, at (905) 666-3620, or toll free, 1-800-483-4845.
