New Economy - 2008 Developments
Durham Region has been, and continues to be, affected by the global economic downturn. A slumping economy has already had a significant impact on our manufacturing sector, particularly transportation equipment manufacturing. The Region however has seen economic growth and new development in many industrial sectors, including manufacturing, throughout 2008.
The following report has been compiled by DRLTB using different information sources. Announcements (positive in black, negative in red) have been reviewed by the municipality for accuracy. New developments within the year have been captured for each of Durham’s eight municipalities. A section titled “Other News” has been added at the end of the report. It highlights new programs and industry developments that have had or will have an impact on the local labour market.
