Welcome and thank you for visiting our web site.
The Durham Region Local Training Board does not provide training or deliver services directly to the public. Instead we identify key training and employment issues in the Durham Region through consultation with various stakeholders in the community. We then work to address those issues, usually in partnership with industry and education.
Future Building
Future Building 2009 was a three-day, hands on, industry-wide construction skills career exhibition designed to show students, teachers, educators, youth, those in career transition and others the opportunities available in construction industry. Working with organized labour and management in the ICI construction industry, the Ontario Construction Secretariat along with its partners Employment Ontario and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (Employment Ontario), sponsored Future Building to support the skilled apprentice program in Ontario and ensure the construction industry has the resources needed for the future.
The Training Board and the Tradeability Project took part in the event held April 7-9 the Garnet B. Rickard Sports Complex in Clarington.
The Board sponsored two buses that took 50 displaced workers and Ontario Works Clients to the event. Participants had a chance to ask questions and talk with people working in the industry. To get more information on the trades, visit
