It was intended to provide a brief description of the Regulated trades in Ontario, information proven to be useful to individuals considering their career options and to those providing career counselling.

The information contained in this catalogue was compiled from sources including:

  • National Occupational Classifications - Human Resources Development Canada
  • Ontario Job Futures - Human Resources Development Canada and the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities
  • Ellis Chart - Human Resources Development Canada
  • Telephone Interviews with relevant Union Locals

Based on an external evaluation of the effectiveness and utility of this resource done in 2001, the Board intends to update the Catalogue in 2002 and expand it to include over 100 apprenticeable occupations. This update will reflect current legislation and entry level requirements which have changed for many of the trades regulated under both the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, 1998, and the Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act.
